Pakistan and India on Wednesday exchanged updated lists of prisoners held in each other’s custody through diplomatic channels under a bilateral agreement on consular access, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said, News.Az reports, citing Xinhua.
In a statement, the ministry said the exchange was carried out in accordance with the Agreement on Consular Access signed on May 21, 2008, which requires both countries to exchange such lists twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.

Pakistan provided the Indian High Commission in Islamabad with a list of 250 Indian prisoners currently in its custody, including 198 fishermen.
In return, India shared a list of 439 Pakistani or believed-to-be Pakistani prisoners held in Indian jails, comprising 386 civilian prisoners and 53 fishermen, according to the ministry.
