DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. — A crash involving a tanker truck forced the full closure of Highway 199 in Del Norte County on Monday, according to Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Caltrans said both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 199 were temporarily closed between the U.S. Forest Service Middle Fork Gorge River Access area and Hardscrabble Creek Bridge.
CHP logs indicate the crash was reported around 10:26 a.m. near mile marker 10.6. Responding officers reported the tanker overturned and was blocking both directions of traffic.
The tanker was carrying apple juice, according to CHP's logs. No injuries were immediately reported, and medical assistance was canceled at the scene, according to dispatch records.
At 2:15 p.m., CHP said the scene was cleared, and the road was reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
