Officials showed off Wayne County’s new regional wastewater treatment plant on Wednesday.
The four older wastewater plants are now consolidated here under one roof.
Experts say this facility is expected to be up and running for at least the next 30 to 40 years.
The $105 million state-backed investment aims to not only improve overall water quality for residents, but also save them money in the long run.
"When all is said and done, this funding package is estimated to deliver an estimated $97 million in long-term debt service savings for local rate payers,” New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation President and CEO Maureen Coleman said. “These are real dollars that stay in families’ pockets while still delivering modern and reliable infrastructure."
