crazy idea, just plain stupid
That’s a waste of money. The Marxist education establishment is just trying to hide from the problems created by the gender-dysphoria industry.
Once, when a tribe of Innu moved to a new townsite to try to escape their horrible social problems, it just followed them.
leftist sensitivity is what caused this tragedy in the first place, now we are doubling down with leftism because its too much for theirs minds to bear, now the taxpayers have to pay for the demo and the construction because apparently some paint and drywall was too much to bear… Pathetic, this is how you breed weakness.
Does tumblr ridge need a new school? Seems like they were doing fine before the shooting, not sure why this would cause a new building to be constructed. Maybe we should build a psych facility instead…
How about we build an asylum so we can heal these ill people when the time is needed. Todays solutions of spending tax payer dollars are not working.
Is it going to be SHOOT PROOF ?
not a very bright idea again from the NDP, a new school will be a waste of money
This is stupid it’s a perfectly good school, build a new one and somebody get shot on first day and we build a new one
Lisa Beare and David Eby are discusting
I get that there are victims. But building a new school will not help kids recover from PTSD trauma. Mental health care will. THere are school districts in BC that are overpopulated and underserved that could use more schools.
The province has no money so waste more on building a new school that is not needed, They should be using the old school to help the victims heal, I have spoken with a school cousellor who says exactly that, similar thing happened in Northern Sask about 10 years ago and they will tell you the best thing they did was go back to the original facility. Eby already was money on flying back and forth, one trip is all that was needed and more waste with a bunch of portables, TOTAL DISCRACE. HE SAYS HE LISTENS, HE LISTENS TO NOTHING!
What an unmitigated WASTE of money and resources. The building didn’t kill anyone. A deranged young man with a gun killed, and wounded. Blame the person not the building or the gun. An inanimate object carries no blame or ill will against anyone.
In 2021 Lytton burnt to the ground the NDP are stalling to rebuild but quick to build a new school in an attempt to make like the tragedy never happened, other cities have these school tragedies as well and move on, not trying to mask it by building a new school. Although B.C has been run by ideology and foolish money ego premiers for decades.
Take a bad situation and make it worse. Thanks NDP!
Going to be interesting to see how this NEW school is going to be LUNITICK proof…. absolute waste of money just like some of the salaries paid to the managers of managers
Extreme Waste of money. Foolish use of OPM.
waste of money, should use the old school
Did they ever find out who was sending death threats to the parents trying to arrange a funeral for their child, one of the innocent victims of the deranged male trans shooter?
So Eby. The new school will be completed by September 2026? Just asking
BC Government should have provided better health support for those involved before the tragedy happened and the RCMP should have done their jobs.
I went here 7 years after it opened. I am not sure wiping the place out is the right answer. But I guess I get it. For your guide, generally where this has happened before they just do their best to deal with it with support and move on. Far left thinking created the situation more far left thinking wont really solve it no will it.

The B.C. government has announced it is building a new secondary school in Tumbler Ridge.
Premier David Eby made the announcement on Thursday, saying students cannot return to the school where such a devastating event happened.
The current school will be torn down and the new school will be built on a new site, Eby said.
The Peace River South School Board requested support from the provincial government to build a new secondary school at a new location in Tumbler Ridge and to ensure the current school is removed quickly and in a trauma-informed way, the government said in a release.
The province and the federal government will help support the removal of the school and the development and construction of the new school.
“The location and design of the new secondary school will be informed by trauma-informed community consultations and expert advice, with that feedback guiding a plan that will come back to the community for design consultation later this year,” the province said in a release.
In the meantime, the province says that finishing touches are being completed on large modular classrooms, which students will move into later this month.
This modular campus includes eight spacious facilities that are twice the size of the existing temporary classroom trailers, with each one accommodating 25 to 30 students.
Five additional modular units will be installed by fall 2026, the province said, to be used as administrative and common space.
“In the wake of an unspeakable tragedy, the community in Tumbler Ridge has persevered and shown such strength,” Gregor Robertson, federal Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada, said in a statement.
“We are focused on providing the students with the support they need and a new school will help make that happen.”
Six people were killed when 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar opened fire at the school in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10.
Two people were killed at a home before the school shooting and the shooter also died after taking their own life.
More to come…
