New Apple-focused charging accessories deliver fast Qi wireless power without the warmth and whir of conventional designs

Mophie has taken aim at one of the biggest annoyances of wireless recharging an iPhone: heat. The company’s new lineup of Apple-focused charging stands and travel chargers, which will ship this month, is built around what the company calls StealthCharge technology.
New 4-in-1 and 3-in-1 wireless charge stands use a Mophie redesigned architecture that moves heat-generating components away from an iPhone’s charging surface and into the base, helping maintain sustained 25W wireless charging without the need for often loudly humming cooling fans.
The result, explained Jared Dahl, senior director of brand marketing at Mophie, is a charging experience that works almost, well, stealthily.
“You reach for your cell phone on the wireless charger, and it’s either warm to the touch or borderline hot to the point where your knee-jerk reaction is, whoa, that’s really warm,” Dahl explained. “We’re attacking heat, the number one public enemy…in a way that’s just uninterrupted. Our mission is to make sure you have sustained, fast, cool charging.”
Wireless charging has become faster over the years, but higher power levels often generate heat that can force phones to reduce charging speeds. Cooling fans help, but, on a nightstand, also produce a sleep-disturbing low, audible hum.
Dahl notes that StealthCharge relies on passive cooling, heat sinks, and component placement to keep temperatures lower while eliminating fan noise.
Mophie’s flagship Stealth 4-in-1 wireless charge stand ($179.95) can simultaneously charge an iPhone on an angle-adjustable pad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and a fourth device such as a notebook PC via an integrated rear retractable 60W USB-C cable. The stand delivers up to 25W wireless charging to compatible iPhones, and 5W Apple Watch and 5W AirPods charging.
The Stealth 3-in-1 wireless charge stand ($149.95) drops the rear retractable USB-C charging cable but retains the same tilting 25W iPhone charging plus 5W Apple Watch and AirPods charging pads.
Both multi-device chargers ship in June in black, white, and champagne finishes.
For travelers, Mophie has introduced the StealthCharge-enabled Roam 3-in-1 Travel Charger ($149.95), a compact foldable charging station that simultaneously charges an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, while fitting into an included compact carrying case.
This updated travel charger, available in black or white, adds not only Mophie’s StealthCharge thermal design, but a more weather-resistant exterior and travel pouch that Mophie says is about 15 percent smaller than its predecessor. Interchangeable international power adapters are also included for both U.S. and “international” versions.
Mophie is also expanding its Powerstation Plus portable battery family with a tiered “good, better, best” strategy, sans the company’s StealthCharge tech, in 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh models ranging in price from $29.95 to $59.95.
The Powerstation Plus lineup starts with a 5,000mAh model featuring a built-in USB-C cable and 15W charging, then moves to premium Signature Series models with aluminum construction, braided integrated cables, and charging speeds up to 30W.
All the new chargers and batteries will be available through Mophie, with the Apple charging products also receiving support from Apple retail channels.
