Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated a newly constructed front block and a modern physiotherapy centre at the Municipal Corporation-run Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital, saying the Delhi Government was committed to ensuring quality, accessible and dignified healthcare for every citizen.
Built at a cost of over Rs 4.6 crore, the upgraded facility is expected to strengthen healthcare services for residents of South and Central Delhi. The new front block houses a six-bed day-care centre, 12 consulting rooms, a conference room and a state-of-the-art physiotherapy centre developed with the CSR support.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta said the nearly 70-year-old hospital has witnessed a steady rise in patient load over the years and the expansion would improve access to treatment while reducing referrals to larger hospitals.

Calling the new facility a “mini-hospital”, she said it would provide timely treatment closer to people’s homes and help ease the burden on major hospitals in the Capital. She also inaugurated the hospital’s six-bed day-care facility.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government is digitising healthcare services in line with the Centre’s Digital India initiative. She said patients will be able to avail digital appointments and prescriptions through a unified digital platform linking government hospitals. The government is also working on a transparent system for organ donation and a digital blood donor directory to connect blood donors with patients.
Gupta said the government remains committed to upgrading healthcare infrastructure while ensuring transparency in public spending and improving the quality of medical services.
Mayor Pravesh Wahi said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, was committed to providing better civic and healthcare facilities to citizens.
He said the upgraded hospital would spare residents the need to visit far-off tertiary hospitals for routine treatment, as many specialised services would now be available locally. Wahi added that the MCD is expanding Aarogya Mandirs across Delhi to improve primary healthcare access and is working towards the goal of establishing more than 100 such centres.
The Mayor also said that the civic body is pursuing its vision of a “Clean Delhi, Healthy Delhi and Green Delhi” by strengthening sanitation infrastructure, adding new cleaning equipment and accelerating biomining and waste processing at the Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla landfill sites.
The Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital offers specialist services in general medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT (eat, nose and throat), ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, AYUSH, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. It also provides laboratory investigations, digital X-ray, TB care, nutritional counselling and other diagnostic services.
