The NASCAR Cup and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series hit Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, with practice action from both taking place today across Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.
This weekend marks NASCAR’s return to the 1.5-mile track in Illinois for the first time since 2019, and as a result, the running looks slightly different from usual.
NOTE: O’Reilly Series practice will now take place on Saturday, July 4, due to adverse weather.
On most race weekends, practice in the Cup and O’Reilly Series takes place directly before qualifying, but this time around, the drivers and teams will take to the track on Friday for practice, and then get the chance to digest any data overnight before heading out for qualifying on Saturday.
With that said, let’s take a look at the information you need ahead of today’s action.

NASCAR Cup Series practice from Chicagoland Speedway takes place today, Friday, July 3rd, at 6 p.m. ET.
Earlier in the day, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice was set to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET, but adverse weather intervened. The session is now set to take place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 4.

Friday’s NASCAR practice action from Chicagoland will be broadcast in different places depending on the series.
Cup Series action will be live on truTV, for example, while O’Reilly Series practice will be aired on the CW App earlier in the day.
