A Reddit post alleging that a manager had become excessively dependent on artificial intelligence has gone viral, triggering discussion about AI's growing influence in workplace decision-making.
The anonymous employee claimed their boss had developed what they described as "AI psychosis" due to an obsession with Anthropic's AI chatbot, Claude.
The Reddit user, who titled the post “My boss has AI psychosis and we’re f****d”, said the manager increasingly relied on the chatbot's responses while overlooking the team's understanding of clients and day-to-day operations.
Describing how meetings had changed, the employee wrote, "Go to meeting. Boss shares the conversation he had with Claude and stone cold serious tells us we need to appease Claude and meet 'his' projections."
The employee further alleged that when actual outcomes differed from Claude's predictions, the manager blamed the staff instead of questioning the chatbot's limitations.
"Claude doesn't understand our clients or their needs, so things don't happen the way Claude projected. Boss flips out. Has another conversation with Claude to ask why. Claude can't figure it out so we must be the problem."
The Reddit user said the situation had become increasingly difficult to watch and expressed concern about its impact on both the manager and the rest of the team.
"I'm watching him get deeper and deeper into the hole and it's depressing to watch, and for his sake too. This can't be good for his mental health, it's not good for any of us. I don't want to participate in the dog and pony show anymore. I want to lay in the grass. I think we all need to log off."

The post drew widespread attention online, with several users claiming they had witnessed similar behaviour in their own organisations.
One commenter said their company's CEO now relied on AI to evaluate nearly every proposal, adding that product launches had been delayed because nothing was approved unless the chatbot found no issues. The user also claimed the company had begun replacing employees with AI.
Another user argued that the way questions are framed influences AI-generated responses, writing, "If you ask an AI a loaded question like, 'What's wrong with this?', it will ALWAYS try to find something wrong. Even if there's nothing wrong. That's how it was made."
