Michael B. Jordan’s New Netflix Movie Is Becoming a Massive Streaming Hit – Collider

He has covered everything from Marvel to the Oscars, and Marvel at the Oscars. He also writes obsessively about the box office, charting the many hits and misses that are released weekly, and how their commercial performance shapes public perception. In his time at Collider, he has also helped drive diversity by writing stories about the multiple Indian film industries, with a goal of introducing audiences to a whole new world of cinema.
The only streamer that shares detailed viewership data at regular intervals is celebrating the success of two back-to-back blockbusters that are on the verge of entering an elite list. The two Netflix movies couldn’t be more different from each other, and while one has already passed the critical 100 million views benchmark, the other is all but guaranteed to do so this week. Both movies are roughly 30 million views behind the streamer’s 10th-most-watched movie, the feminist fantasy film Damsel, starring Millie Bobby Brown. If even one of them overtakes Damsel, it will have become the latest member of Netflix’s all-time top 10 list, which is currently topped by KPop Demon Hunters.
This in itself should be an indication of which of the two new movies has the greater chance of becoming a top-10 hit. KPop Demon Hunters was offloaded by Sony and dropped on Netflix without much of a marketing push. It emerged as a word-of-mouth sensation and is now the only Netflix original to have passed the 300-million-views mark. Remember, Netflix counts views only during the first 91 days after a title’s release. The streamer has its own methods for calculating what a “view” actually is. Last week, the streamer’s action-packed survival thriller Apex, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, passed the 100-million-views milestone after a month.
The scores below reveal how the Force sees you. Your highest number is your true alignment. Read on to understand what that means — and what it will cost you.
Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty. That is courage.
You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though. The question isn’t whether you have what it takes — it’s whether you’ll be patient enough to find out.
You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings. But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side’s cruelest trick is that it agrees with you.
You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest. You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt? You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you.
You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential. The Jedi don’t fully trust you. The Sith think you’re wasting your potential. They’re both partially right. But so are you.
This week, it’s the turn of Netflix’s latest animated offering, Swapped. Directed by Nathan Greno and featuring Michael B. Jordan and Juno Temple, the fantasy film finished second on the English-language movies chart in its fourth weekend. It raked in 15 million views in its first week, 38 million views in its second, 26 million views in its third frame, and 16 million views in its fourth week. This puts the movie’s total view count at 95 million. Considering how popular animated movies are, both on streaming and in theaters, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Swapped enter the top 10 list by overtaking Damsel‘s total of 138 million views. Swapped received mostly positive reviews and is now sitting at a 67% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.
Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
Set in The Valley, Swapped follows the journey of a small woodland creature and a majestic bird who magically trade places.
