A 26-year old Manchester resident has been charged with attempted murder of a federal officer after allegedly firing a gun at a Border Patrol officer during a traffic stop in far northern New Hampshire early Sunday morning.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Blu Zeke Daly was pulled over in Stewartstown by a Border Patrol agent shortly before midnight. After being questioned about the use of any aliases, Daly allegedly fled from the officer, heading north.
Following a nearly 30 minute pursuit, Daly reached the Canadian border on Route 3 in Pittsburg, which was locked for the evening. According to court records, Daly attempted to turn around, and then allegedly fired a single gun shot. The Border Patrol officer, whose name has not been released, returned fire, striking Daly.
Daly was transferred to a hospital for medical treatment. The full extent of their injuries isn’t clear. The Border Patrol officer was not injured.
According to an affidavit, a handgun and a spent shell casing were found in Daly’s vehicle.
The FBI is leading the investigation.
