Lil Nas X shares mental health update – Yahoo News Malaysia

Lil Nas X wants fans to know he’s “doing better and creating freely” with “less fear” in his heart.
The “Industry Baby” rapper posted a video on June 17 to share an update on his mental health and future plans.
Against a cloudless sky and with a soft instrumental playing, Lil Nas X, clad in a fitted white T-shirt, smiled broadly at the camera and shared that he’s been in rehab for a few months while “trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head. I have a therapist now, and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful.”

In August, Lil Nas X (born Montero Hill), 27, was arrested in Los Angeles after walking down the street in only his underwear and boots in a disoriented state. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker charged at officers. He was later charged with three felony charts of battery with injury to a police officer and one of resisting arrest.
Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to the charges and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In April, he was granted a mental health diversion in lieu of jail time. His charges will be dismissed if he continues treatment and obeys the law for two years.
The artist, who is gay and a LGBTQ+ advocate, said he always thought he might be bipolar but didn’t want to admit it for fear of what people would think of him.
“I’m already … black, gay, bipolar. I’m already living life on, like, extreme hard mode,” he said with a smile.
The two-time Grammy winner told fans he’s been spending time at home in Atlanta and Los Angeles as he continues recovery.
Though he’s only released one album, 2021’s double-platinum “Montero,” which spawned the hits “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” Lil Nas X has been working on a second release, tentatively called “Dreamboy.”
“There is new music on the way,” he said in his video, “but I’m not going there yet.”
The rapper also thanked fans and said, “All I want to do is continue to make you proud and make myself proud. … Let’s go, dreamboy, let’s go.”
