Until recently, the market MotoGP 2027 had produced only two certainties. Marco Bezzecchi and Johann Zarco, both having joined their new teams at the start of the 2026 season—Aprilia and LCR Honda respectively—signed their 2027 contracts immediately upon arrival, an exception in a paddock that usually postpones its major announcements until the summer. These two early signings constituted the only certainties for the next season, until Francesco Bagnaia came along and changed everything.
The Italian will therefore leave Ducati at the end of the 2026 season to join Aprilia. The two-time world champion (2022-2023) will team up with Marco Bezzecchi at the Noale-based manufacturer, forming a new pairing within a team that until now had relied on Jorge Martín. With Marc Márquez and Pedro Acosta also officially confirmed at Ducati for 2027, the Italian lineup is taking shape.
So it is with Yamaha that Jorge Martín has found his new home. The 2024 world champion has signed with the Iwata-based manufacturer for 2027, partnered with Ai Ogura. For the Spaniard, the move represents a significant step up: after two seasons with Aprilia, he joins a Yamaha project in MotoGP for the first time, replaced by the two-time Italian world champion, while the replacement for his future Japanese teammate has not yet been announced at Trackhouse.

These two signings come the day after the announcement of the departure of fabio quartararo and Alex Rins for next season. The 2021 champion and the Spaniard officially announced their departure from the Iwata-based manufacturer on Tuesday, June 30th. Both drivers find themselves on the market at the same time, with a grid that, while still largely open, offers a limited number of truly competitive seats.
The 2027 MotoGP grid should gradually take shape between now and the summer, a traditionally crucial period for rider transfers. The upcoming Grands Prix will provide numerous opportunities for manufacturers to formalize their agreements—and for free agents to demonstrate their skills and quickly find a new project before the doors close one after another.
