Is Cincinnati ready for age of A.I.? Experts debate at Cincy A.I. Week summit – WLWT

Tech leaders and enthusiasts gathered in Over-the-Rhine this week for Cincy AI Week, a multi-day event focused on the future of artificial intelligence in Cincinnati and throughout the Midwest.
Attendees took note of how AI is transforming the workforce and economy.
“It’s here to stay; it’s not going anywhere, and I think we need to embrace it,” shared Kris Jones, a professor of information systems at the University of Cincinnati.
Some experts differ on how prepared the city is to embrace the technology.
Rob Richardson, founder of Disruption Now, an AI education company, gave Cincinnati a “D-minus” when it comes to AI readiness.
“That does mean we don’t have the ability to do [better], but we don’t have forever to do this,” Richardson said.
He said the city could do a better job of integrating the emerging technology in government services and economic development.
“Waiting costs us more money, costs us jobs and costs us talent,” Richardson said.
Summer Crenshaw, co-founder and CEO of Enterprise Technology Association, pushed back on his assessment.
“Cincinnati really, from years ago, planted the flag on responsible AI,” she said, crediting city leaders’ willingness to learn AI.
Organizers of Cincy AI Week are partnering with JobsOhio to help certify more than 1000 Ohioans in AI skills.
