India is actively engaging with the United States to secure access to Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, an advanced artificial intelligence initiative aimed at strengthening cybersecurity for critical digital infrastructure. The move forms part of the government’s broader strategy to improve cyber resilience as AI rapidly transforms both cyber defence and cyber threats.
Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Cybersecurity Summit in New Delhi, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S. Krishnan said discussions are underway with American authorities to enable India to use Project Glasswing for AI-powered cybersecurity stress testing. According to him, the platform would allow India to evaluate the resilience of critical digital systems against frontier AI capabilities.
Krishnan noted that India has not paused its cybersecurity efforts while negotiations continue. He explained that around 60–70 per cent of cybersecurity testing can already be conducted using AI models currently available, allowing government agencies to proactively identify vulnerabilities across digital infrastructure.
Launched in April, Project Glasswing is an initiative by Anthropic that brings together several of the world’s leading technology companies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorgan Chase, the Linux Foundation, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Palo Alto Networks. The collaboration focuses on protecting critical software and digital infrastructure from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats powered by artificial intelligence.
The discussions also come as global technology companies accelerate cybersecurity measures in response to the growing capabilities of AI. Reports indicate that Apple is speeding up software updates, delivering security patches earlier than traditional release cycles to better protect users from AI-assisted cyberattacks and emerging hacking techniques.
With cyber threats becoming more advanced, India’s efforts to leverage frontier AI technologies for cybersecurity testing highlight the country’s commitment to safeguarding government networks, digital public infrastructure and critical information systems. Access to Project Glasswing could significantly enhance India’s ability to detect vulnerabilities before they are exploited by malicious actors.
