For the second year in a row, Ideal Systems has won two awards at Asia’s most prestigious broadcast industry awards ceremony. Ideal Systems announced that it won two awards at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards ceremony in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands.
The first award, under the category of Production Technology, was for an NDI-based multimedia production studio for multi-discipline content creation at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol Campus. SIT is a public university in Singapore that offers industry-focused, applied degree programmes and confers its own degree programmes as well as specialised degree programmes with overseas universities.
Ideal Systems developed the multicamera recording studio located within the central library. The facility was made accessible to approximately 12,000 students and 1,200 staff, extending use beyond media-focused programmes to disciplines such as engineering, accountancy and health sciences.
The second award, under the category of Digital News Delivery, was for an AI-enhanced integrated television newsroom system for multi-platform content delivery built around the NxtEdition Integrated Newsroom System for Collective Newsroom in New Delhi.
Established by four former BBC employees, Collective Newsroom is the BBC’s sole provider of content for its six Indian-language websites, social media platforms and YouTube channel BBC News India. Collective Newsroom produces and publishes stories, videos, podcasts and graphics for BBC News Gujarati, BBC News Hindi, BBC News Marathi, BBC News Punjabi, BBC News Tamil and BBC News Telugu, as well as BBC India’s YouTube channel in English.
India is the BBC’s largest international market, with more than 80 million people consuming BBC content across the country every week.
Michael Tolath and his team at Ideal Systems India delivered the new broadcast newsroom facility for Collective Newsroom, combining television, radio and digital production workflows in a single location. The installation was built around the NxtEdition Integrated Newsroom System, connecting 90 journalist workstations through a story-centric workflow.
Scripts, video, graphics and cues were managed within a single artificial intelligence-assisted system, allowing AI agents with intuitive production tools to assist content production that could then be adapted across multiple platforms, including broadcast, web and social media.
In a statement given at the awards, Fintan Mc Kiernan, CEO for Southeast Asia, said: “Our whole team is thrilled with the recognition for these two projects, which demonstrate the breadth of service we can provide in Asia, from serving 12,000 students in Singapore to 80 million weekly viewers in India. On behalf of the larger Ideal Systems Group, we are truly honoured and appreciative.”
