If you own a Nintendo Switch 2 (or even the first-gen model for that matter), then you might want to check your device for a new software patch, which comes with software version number 22.5.0. In addition to the usual stability fixes, the new update also comes with a handful of useful features.
For the Nintendo Switch 2, the update expands the system’s accessibility suite by adding Dutch and Russian to the “Text to Speech” language options. These two languages are also now fully supported in the “Change Speech ⇔ Text During GameChat” feature. Meanwhile, Nintendo has also redesigned the Nintendo eShop layout, which now features dynamic theme integration, meaning the eShop’s background color will automatically match the system’s “Basic Dark” theme should it be enabled via System Settings.
For security and media playback, users can now set up a user-verification PIN whenever they access the Nintendo eShop or use saved payment methods, which protects against unauthorized purchases. Additionally, navigating video content in both the News section and the eShop is now easier, and players can use the ZL and ZR buttons to quickly rewind or advance video clips by 10 seconds in full-screen playback.
