Google Finance has exited beta this week with a set of updates to its investment tracking and market monitoring tools, alongside the launch of a dedicated Android app. The updates are rolling out globally and are accessible via the website (as of this writing, we’re still seeing the beta version – that may change in a day or two).
It wouldn’t be a Google app in 2026 without AI shoved into every nook and cranny, despite all the legal disclaimers along the lines of double check the info, what AI says is not financial advice, yada yada – the company is seemingly aware of this fact and made very limited mentions of AI in its blog despite plenty of new features relying on it.
Either way, the new version allows users to consolidate holdings in a single dashboard showing performance data and asset allocation breakdowns. Existing Google Finance portfolios carry over automatically, and new portfolios can be created by uploading screenshots, CSV or PDF files, or by describing holdings in text (where AI figures it out). A built-in Research tool on the right – again, AI gets involved – allows users to query their portfolio directly, such as asking about sector allocation or fixed income exposure.
On top of these, Google Finance now allows user to create market update tasks via the Research panel. Users can describe a briefing request (such as “send me a daily pre-market briefing analyzing significant overnight moves across major cryptocurrencies”), and set a delivery schedule. The system then runs in the background and delivers updates as notifications through the Google app, as well as in the said panel if accessed from the web.
A dedicated Google Finance app for Android is now available on the Google Play Store; the iOS counterpart is also planned for later in 2026. The app provides access to watchlists, real-time market data, a live financial news feed, the research tool, plus an AI-powered “key moments” briefing feature that provides context on individual stock price movements. Note that portfolio and scheduled task features are not yet in the Android app but are expected to be added in the coming months, and users will be able to access live earnings calls within the app as well.
