23:20 CET – It was hardly a vintage game in LA, but one man did stand out, and that was Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who earned the highest Flashscore player rating on the pitch (9.0), thanks to his clean sheet, seven saves and 1.70 goals prevented. Impressive stats, and another great keeping display at the World Cup.

23:01 CET – That full-time at the SoFi Stadium, and it has ended 0-0 between Belgium and Iran.
With Belgium ending the match with 10 men, you might think they've escaped with a point here at first glance. But really, Rudi Garcia's side absolutely dominated two-thirds of the match, and even ended the game with 70 per cent possession and 23 shots to seven, despite receiving the red card.
Really, this is two points dropped by Belgium and one gained by Iran and still, no one in Group G has won yet. New Zealand and Egypt meet in the late game tonight, so that might change. For now, it's anyone's group!

22:50 CET – Moving back to LA, we're into the last six minutes or so of regular time, and it is still goalless between Belgium and Iran. The clock is ticking… Even being a man down, Belgium will rue their missed chances if they cannot find a breakthrough here.
22:40 CET – Today's third match is between Uruguay and Cape Verde in Group H over at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The teams are in, and Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa has dropped Darwin Nunez. See how the sides will line up below.
Both countries are looking for their first wins of the tournament still, with Uruguay drawing with Saudi Arabia in their opener, and Cape Verde famously holding Spain to a stalemate. Can Vozinha pull off another masterclass between the sticks tonight? Kick-off is at midnight.
22:32 CET – Here's a twist! Belgium are down to 10 men with Nathan Ngoy being shown a straight red for tugging back an Iranian forward, who looked to be through on goal!
As the last man, the red had to be shown to Ngoy – hard to swallow, but fair, and the right call.
22:26 CET – Down the other end, Belgium are doing everything but score at the SoFi Stadium. They've just come extremely close to breaking the deadlock with Iran's Alireza Beiranvand making a brilliant save to deny Maxim De Cuyper and keep it goalless.
22:20 CET – Thibaut Courtois has been called into action to make another huge save for Belgium. It's a funny old game – Iran have had little of the ball, but they have had a couple of gilt-edged chances. Could they spring a surprise here?

21:54 CET – And it’s half-time at the SoFi Stadium, with Belgium and Iran still goalless. The biggest moment of the half was probably Iran’s VAR-overturned goal (for offside). But despite that decision going against them, they’ll probably be happy to still be level with the Belgians hogging the ball (81 per cent possession) and taking 11 shots at goal (four on target, xG of 0.90). Rudi Garcia's Red Devils, meanwhile, will need to make sure their dominance counts in the second half!
21:30 CET – At the first hydration break in Los Angeles, it is still goalless with Belgium dominating proceedings so far, with about 74 per cent possession. Iran have had a couple of chances, though, most notably forcing Thibaut Courtois into one terrific save, and then Taremi's goal that was ruled out for offside. Largely, they look happy to concede the ball and look for opportunities on the break.
21:27 CET – It looked like Iran's Mehdi Taremi had scored from a brilliantly clever free-kick routine there, but it's been overturned for an offside by the VAR. That's a shame, it had shades of that iconic Wout Weghorst goal for the Dutch in Qatar!
21:10 CET – We're underway in the Group G clash between Belgium and Iran, with the Europeans dominating the early stages in terms of possession. It only took three minutes for Romelu Lukaku to get booked on his first start of the tournament, however. Not ideal for the big man.
20:55 CET – The Belgian and Iranian players are out for the anthems at the SoFi Stadium, which means we are close to kick-off in the second match of the day.

20:20 CET – Next up, we head to the SoFi Stadium in Southern California for Belgium vs Iran in Group G. Remember, both sides drew their opening matches, so they will be desperate for wins today.
The big team news is that Romelu Lukaku returns to the Red Devils' XI after his important cameo against Egypt, while Jeremy Doku is missing due to illness. Check out who's starting the game below:
20:07 CET – Full-time in Atlanta, and European champions Spain have taken a firm grip of Group H after a hugely dominant 4-0 triumph over Saudi Arabia.
The returning Lamine Yamal got the ball rolling with an early opener, before Mikel Oyarzabal's quickfire brace and a second-half own goal from Hassan Tambakti wrapped up three points for Luis de la Fuente's men.
As a result, La Roja have put all the disappointment of their opening stalemate against Cape Verde to one side, reminding the rest of the tournament just how dangerous they can be when firing on all cylinders.

19:33 CET – Saudi Arabia have made it through to the second-half hydration break without further damage, despite chances for Pedro Porro and Ferran Torres.
19:12 CET – Spain have scored a fourth early in the second period! Marc Cucurella's shot rebounds off defender Hassan Tambakti and beyond a helpless Mohammed Al Owais, to compound Saudi Arabia's woes.
19:09 CET – We're back underway for the second half at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium!
Spain have made a couple of substitutions, with goalscorers Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal making way for Yeremy Pino and Ferran Torres.
18:52 CET – Half-time in Atlanta, and Spain are in cruise control against Saudi Arabia, with Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal firing La Roja into a commanding three-goal lead at the break.
Luis de la Fuente's side have clicked into gear after toiling in their opening fixture against Cape Verde, as they look to stamp their authority on Group H.
18:37 CET – The one-way traffic shows no signs of slowing down, with Mikel Oyarzabal inches away from a hat-trick after directing a clever outside-of-the-foot effort against the bar.
18:25 CET – Mikel Oyarzabal has netted a quickfire double and Spain are running rampant against Saudi Arabia! Excellent play in the box involving Marc Cucurella and Dani Olmo picked out the Real Sociedad man, who made no mistake from six yards.
18:23 CET – Spain's dominant start in Atlanta is rewarded with a second goal! Mikel Oyarzabal pounces on a loose ball in the box to clinically finish into the bottom corner for his 26th international strike.
18:13 CET – Lamine Yamal has arrived at the 2026 World Cup! A superb low delivery from Mikel Oyarzabal finds the Barcelona man unmarked at the back post, and Lamine finishes coolly beyond Mohammed Al Owais to give Spain a dream start.
17:58 CET – The teams are out and the national anthems have been belted around the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as we close in on kick-off between Spain and Saudi Arabia in Atlanta!

17:29 CET – After a frustrating goalless stalemate in their Group H opener against a Vozinha-inspired Cape Verde, Spain will be determined to kickstart their tournament against Saudi Arabia today.
La Roja, who are winless in their last four World Cup outings (D3, L1), have never gone five matches without a victory in the competition, while the Green Falcons are looking to go unbeaten across their opening two World Cup games for the very first time.
16:45 CET – The team news is in from Atlanta, as key man Lamine Yamal returns to the starting lineup for Spain!
Dani Olmo, Alex Baena and Pedro Porro also start for Luis de la Fuente's side, while Salem Al Dawsari and Firas Al Buraikan lead the line for Saudi Arabia.

We've got another huge day of action ahead, with European heavyweights Spain and Belgium searching for their first wins of the tournament against Saudi Arabia and Iran, respectively.
Following those matches, Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay take on World Cup debutants Cape Verde in Florida, before New Zealand and Egypt round off the day's play in Vancouver.
