The Fredonia Central School District prides itself on providing “dynamic and global educational experiences” for its students. A recent event provided exactly that to the next wave of students prepared to join the workforce.
More than 200 Fredonia High School juniors and seniors explored career opportunities and connected with local employers during the school’s recent Job, Trade, and Employment Fair held in the high school library.
The event was designed to help students explore post-secondary options and better understand the many career pathways available to them after high school. It brought together representatives from over two dozen businesses, agencies, and organizations from across the region. Students had the opportunity to learn about summer employment, skilled trades, workforce training programs, and career opportunities available after graduation.
Participating organizations represented a variety of fields, including manufacturing, healthcare, human services, retail, transportation, public service, and law enforcement. Employers and workforce
development partners shared information about current hiring needs, workplace expectations, training opportunities, and career pathways available to young adults entering the workforce.
Students engaged directly with employers, asked questions about career options, and gained valuable insight into the skills and qualifications needed for success in a variety of professions. The fair also provided opportunities for students to begin building professional connections that may lead to
future employment and training opportunities.
Participating organizations included Jamestown Plastics, Special Metals, Wells Enterprises, Tops Markets, Heritage Ministries, Aspire of WNY, The Resource Center, Chautauqua County Civil Service, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Cassadaga Job Corps, Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, and many others.
High School Principal Ron Tonelli expressed his appreciation for the event. He said, “Thank you to our Student Services Office, including Amy Ward, James Hobbs, Kat Beyer, Steve Verstraete, and Stacy Levulis, and the participating employers and organizations for investing in local students and helping us prepare the next generation of highly-trained and motivated individuals.”
The Job, Trade, and Employment Fair is part of Fredonia High School’s ongoing efforts to connect classroom learning with real-world career opportunities and workforce readiness.
