The EU co-funded campaign ’Have an apple day! Get to know high quality apples from EU’ made its presence felt at the recent Alimentec-Anuga Select Colombia 2026 event, which took place on 9-12 June in Bogotá.
According to those behind the campaign, which aims to increase awareness of European apples and strengthen trade relationships, the trade show included meetings with importers and distributors, local market insights, and a press event.
The aim was to showcase the quality of European apples and build new business relationships in the Colombian market.
During the trade fair, campaign experts and representatives from the European fruit sector held B2B meetings with Colombian importers, distributors and business partners.
Discussions focused on cooperation opportunities as well as the EU’s high production standards, food safety requirements and quality control systems.
The programme was supported by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Polish embassy in Bogotá, and also included a visit to Corabastos, Colombia’s largest food distribution centre.
The delegation also met representatives of Asifruit, the Colombian Association of Fruit and Vegetable Importers, to discuss opportunities for cooperation between European producers and the Colombian import sector.
“Colombia is a market with significant potential and growing demand for high-quality products,” said Piotr Janota, president of Unia Owocowa, Poland’s Fruit Union.
“Our meetings with local market representatives confirmed that European apples meet business partners’ expectations in terms of quality, safety and reliable supply.”
