TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – New technology was unveiled Thursday that could change public schools’ security measures across the state.
Godby is one of the first schools in Florida to launch the Campus Guardian Angel program. The company’s human – piloted drones will work with law enforcement to end active shooter threats at a faster rate.
The drones will reportedly only be deployed in life-threatening situations. Each teacher has access to contact Zero Eyes, Ark Strategic and Campus Guardian Angel through the app directly. Because this is only a pilot program, Campus Guardian Angel will not be deploying a full flight, which would include upwards of 75 drones.
Other new technology will scan students for weapon detection and provide a 3-D model of the campus in case of emergencies. Godby’s principal, Marcus Scott, said he’s excited for this technology to be implemented on campus.

“As a principal, again, my number one priority is for our students to be safe on campus here. And, while I pray that this never happens at this school, I’m happy to know that in the event that something like that does happen, we have the best technology and support to be an extra layer on what we already have, which is our people,” Scott said.
Godby will launch the pilot program this fall. Broward and Volusia County schools were also selected for the program.
