A round of rain is in store this morning as a speedy weather system moves through.
Although it’s brief, it will be a beneficial soaking in some towns and cities, and we could even have couple of embedded thunderstorms. Skies will clear behind this batch of showers, then we gear up for more potent storms in the afternoon.

The atmosphere is primed for the development of strong winds in any of the storms that become severe, so keep an eye to the sky anytime after 4 p.m.
We’re not promising hits (or severe weather) everywhere, however. Some may only get a glancing shot or the non-severe part (heavy rain or just flashes of lightning) of a storm.
Reason being is there will be gaps in between the cells. All this activity will move off Cape by 10-11 p.m.

Saturday will struggle with the clouds. There may be a pop-up shower in the afternoon, but the steadiest rain will be across Long Island and back over Greater NYC.
Sunday sees the sun dominate, but there’s still a very small chance at a pop-up shower in the afternoon.
Next week we prepare for the heat. Temps soar into the low 90s late week. It appears we may also have some daily storm threats Wed-Fri.
Right now, the holiday weekend cools off and dries out – possibly setting us up for a stellar celebration of our nation’s 250 birthday! Fingers crossed.
