DIBS AI, a division of OrthoSelect, has launched Version 9.0 of its orthodontic treatment software, introducing a suite of three integrated, AI-powered platforms designed to automate treatment simulation, case setup, and indirect bonding tray workflows.
The comprehensive update centers on three core components—AUTO PHYSICS, AUTO SETUP, and AUTO TRAY. According to the company, the suite leverages artificial intelligence to eliminate manual workflows and significantly accelerate case processing times. DIBS AI is offering the suite at $165 per case.
The AUTO PHYSICS platform utilizes artificial intelligence to simulate tooth movement for treatment planning and prediction. The system models complete wire sequences—including size, form, and prescription—to predict movements and display torque based on specific slot and wire parameters. To assist with case visualization, the software animates expected treatment timelines using standard tooth and jawbone movement rates. And for practices without CBCT scanners, the platform uses AI to generate simulated root models.
AUTO PHYSICS also features an automated collision detection system that flags potential bracket-to-tooth or bracket-to-bracket interferences, offering turbo placement recommendations to help prevent bonding issues. Additionally, DIBS AI introduced Signature Series, an invite-only premium case setup service.
The AUTO SETUP platform uses artificial intelligence to automate traditional case preparation. By handling initial teeth selection, as well as precise bracket positioning and height placement, the system is designed to allow orthodontists and DIBS AI technicians to focus on fine-tuning and quality assurance rather than manual setup.
The company notes that the platform currently targets a 24-hour turnaround time for case approvals, with ongoing development aimed at eventually reducing processing times to minutes.
The AUTO TRAY platform is an AI-driven, cloud-based system for creating indirect bonding (IDB) trays. The trays utilize material designed to be non-stick, tear-resistant, and easy to remove, according to the company.
For practices equipped with in-office 3D printers, the software offers a “We Design, You Print” service model, which includes dedicated trays for bite turbo bonding that can be printed on-site. Additionally, the platform features tear-away repair jigs—individual, clippable positioning guides for each bracket location that allow orthodontists to precisely reposition and re-bond brackets that debond during treatment.
“Version 9.0 represents the convergence of three breakthrough platforms that fundamentally change how orthodontic care is delivered. AUTO PHYSICS gives doctors unprecedented insight into treatment progression, AUTO SETUP eliminates hours of manual work, and AUTO TRAY brings manufacturing into the digital age,” says Steven Gardner, chief executive officer of OrthoSelect, in a release.
In addition to the three core platforms, Version 9.0 introduces several general workflow improvements. The update includes an enhanced case notes feature that allows for real-time communication between doctors and DIBS AI technicians directly within the software. It also adds a dynamic bracket library auto-sync to keep bracket definitions current across installations, along with full software support for single-arch treatments. To assist with patient communication, the software provides dynamic archwire animation to visualize wire bending. Finally, new auto-alignment technology automatically aligns CBCT root and bone scans with intraoral scans.
