A Delhi Police sub-inspector saved the life of a man attempting suicide on the Mahipalpur flyover here, an official said on Tuesday. Responding to an emergency call, a Police Control Room (PCR) team rushed to the spot and found a man standing dangerously close to the edge of the flyover.
Sub-Inspector Anil Sharma engaged him in conversation to calm him down and gain his confidence. He also offered him water and continued speaking with him, urging him to reconsider his decision.
As the interaction continued, the PCR staff devised a plan to rescue him. The officer also handed over his mobile phone to distract him. After waiting for the right moment, he swiftly pulled him away from the edge and brought him to safety.
“The PCR staff distracted him by handing over his mobile phone and swiftly grabbed the young man, pulling him away from the edge,” a police official said. Police officials praised Sharma’s presence of mind and timely intervention.
