Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is emerging as a strong global growth engine.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today to mark 12 years of the Modi government, she highlighted key achievements of the Centre and said that in 2014, the country had a metro network of 248 kilometres, which has now expanded to over 1,095 kilometres, covering 26 cities.
She added that more than 164 airports are currently operational in the country, making India the third-largest domestic aviation market in the world.
The Chief Minister said that India is being recognised as a global manufacturing hub. She pointed out that electronic production in the country has increased nearly six times, and India has emerged as the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer globally.
CM further said that India’s defence exports have reached more than 100 countries. Referring to the Startup India initiative, she said it has opened new opportunities for the youth. Today, the country has over two lakh startups and more than 120 unicorns.
She expressed confidence that India will continue to move forward steadily towards the goal of becoming a developed nation.
