Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna’s romantic drama Cocktail 2 has shown encouraging growth at the box office on its first Saturday. After a decent opening day, the film witnessed a noticeable rise in collections on Day 2, suggesting that audience curiosity and weekend footfalls have helped improve its early theatrical performance.
As per early estimates published by Sacnilk, Cocktail 2 collected Rs 16.25 crore net in India on Saturday, registering a healthy jump from its Day 1 earnings of Rs 13.50 crore.
With this increase, the film’s total India net box office collection after two days has reached Rs 29.75 crore. The India gross collection has touched approximately Rs 35.70 crore, placing the film in a favourable position heading into its crucial Sunday business.
The film has also secured a place among the biggest Hindi openers of the year. Cocktail 2 emerged as the fourth-highest Hindi opening film of 2026, following Dhurandhar 2 (Rs 145.55 crore nett), Border 2 (Rs 30 crore nett) and Bhooth Bangla (Rs 25.65 crore nett) as the Telegraph report.
On its opening day, the movie recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 20.04 percent across 10,458 shows in India, indicating steady attendance in theatres despite mixed reactions from viewers and critics.
All eyes are now on Sunday collections, which will determine the film’s opening weekend performance. To enter the Rs 50 crore net club within its first three days, Cocktail 2 will require a collection of slightly above Rs 20 crore on Day 3.
While the target appears ambitious, strong evening and night occupancy in key metro markets could help the film move closer to the milestone. The film arrived with the advantage of the Cocktail brand, a romantic drama that built a strong fan following after its 2012 release because of its modern relationship themes, memorable characters and popular music.
The new installment benefits from the popularity of its lead actors. Shahid Kapoor continues to attract urban audiences, Kriti Sanon enjoys strong recognition among mainstream Hindi film viewers, while Rashmika Mandanna’s popularity across Hindi and South Indian cinema has helped expand the film’s reach.
Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is presented as a spiritual continuation of the original film and introduces a completely new set of characters.
The story follows Kunal, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, and Diya, played by Rashmika Mandanna, who share a long relationship but struggle with questions surrounding commitment and marriage.
Their equation changes during a trip to Sicily when they meet Ally, played by Kriti Sanon. As misunderstandings, jealousy and emotional dilemmas emerge, a complicated love triangle unfolds, forming the central conflict of the story.
Cocktail 2 has been produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan, Pramita R Vijan and Ankur Garg, with Homi Adajania returning to the romantic world of Cocktail through a fresh narrative and new characters.
