EDISON, N.J. — The Hindi-language film Brilliant Idea continues its successful theatrical run in the United States, entering its fifth week after attracting audiences across multiple states and earning strong support from moviegoers in New Jersey.
The film premiered nationwide on May 29 after being selected for release by the AMC Theatres, the world’s largest movie theater chain. Following screenings in Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and New Jersey, the film enjoyed multiple sold-out shows at AMC New Brunswick 18 before moving to Hillsborough Cinemas for its third week, where it continued to draw audiences through its third and fourth weeks.
The film is now being screened at the ITV Gold Auditorium in New Jersey, extending its theatrical run into a fifth week.
According to the filmmakers, Brilliant Idea has attracted viewers of all ages, with audiences responding positively to its themes of hope, purpose and perseverance. Many parents have also brought their children to see the film for its references to the Ramayana and its emphasis on Indian cultural values alongside the story of South Asians pursuing the American dream.
To mark the film’s continued success, a “Super Hit Celebration” was held June 29 at the Edison Adult Day Care Center in Edison. The event was organized by administrator Anurita Yarday Chitale and attended by members of the ITV Gold team, Sanjiv Pandya of Radio Zindagi, and the film’s cast and crew.
During the celebration, Mohinder Kaur was invited to declare Brilliant Idea a “super hit” on behalf of the audience.
The production also marks a milestone for Indian-American cinema. According to the filmmakers, it is the first Hindi-language Indian-American feature film to cast locally trained aspiring actors in the lead roles. Director Rabinder Parasher trained New Jersey-based actors Ricky and J.S. King for six months before filming to prepare them for the principal roles.
Brilliant Idea is directed by Parasher, with cinematography by Mehboob Ahmedabadi and Mukesh Kashiwala, editing by Tijo Thankachan, and an original background score by Vinu Thoma.
The film’s title song features the voice of veteran playback singer Kumar Sanu. The lyrics were written by Rajesh Prasher and the music was composed by Chander Mohan.
The filmmakers said one of the film’s defining elements is its incorporation of the teachings and blessings of Lord Shiva into the narrative. They said audiences have embraced its inspirational message and practical life lessons, helping sustain the film’s strong theatrical performance in the United States.
