UNION COUNTY — Power is out for thousands of residents in Union County.
The Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative at 1:14 p.m. announced on its Facebook page it is experiencing an outage affecting the La Grande area.
“Crews are en route to assess the situation and begin restoration,” according to OTEC.
The utility provider on its online outage map shows the outage is affecting more than 12,600 cooperative members.
The outage coincided with hot and windy weather.
The National Weather Service in Pendleton forecast a high near 88 degrees for La Grande with west wind 18-23 mph and gusts at high as 31 mph.
