The body of a jet ski passenger was recovered early Wednesday from a pond in Lakeville, Massachusetts.
Lakeville Police and Fire Departments responded at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to Long Pond, in the area of Nelson Island and Big Beach, in response to reports that a passenger had fallen off a jet ski.
Officials found the body of Daisha Murphy, 25, of Brockton, at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, she was found roughly 125 yards from shore in 5 feet of water.
Officials said she was not wearing a life jacket when she fell from the jet ski.
“They had dogs, and he kept saying he’s sorry, and more cop cars came, and they brought a rubber boat to go out,” said Roman Okowinski, who lives nearby.
The incident is under investigation by Lakeville Police, the Massachusetts Environmental Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
