Delhi Government Passes EV Policy: In a major move, the Delhi cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Monday approved the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy. The policy is expected to be implemented from July 1. Announcing the policy, the Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government is planning to invest Rs 15,000 crore under the policy over the next four years.
It is worth noting that the EV Policy 2.0 is a part of Delhi’s broader strategy to bolster electric mobility adoption. The BJP government in the capital city has set a target to ensure that 95 percent of all new personal vehicle registrations are electric by 2027.
According to a report by the new agency PTI, the EV auto will be registered from January 1 and EV cars from April 2028 under the new EV Policy. Those who own BS IV four-wheelers will now get a scraping incentive of Rs 1 lakh.

The Delhi Government is going to provide Rs 30,000 subsidy to all EV two-wheeler buyers and Rs 50,000 subsidy to EV three-wheeler buyers. The subsidies will be provided in the first year of the Delhi EV Policy.
According to the draft EV policy, the Delhi government had pitched that hybrid vehicles (under Rs 30 lakh) to receive a subsidy of 50 percent on road tax. Hybrid vehicles include an internal combustion engine, with 1 or more motors, generative breaking system and engine-generated power.
However, EV policy does not include any subsidy for hybrid vehicles, PTI reported.
