iPads have everything you love in a MacBook, just in a more portable package, which makes them perfect for summer travel. They fit easily in a personal item or carry-on but still bring Apple‘s signature speedy performance.
Unfortunately, the entire iPad lineup just got some big price hikes. Apple made its tablets (and laptops) more expensive on June 25, citing soaring memory and storage costs because of AI data center demand. All models are at least $100 more expensive than before.
On the bright side, Amazon isn’t matching the Apple Store’s newly higher iPad prices just yet. Better still, every model is on sale there for Prime Day this week. If you’ve been thinking about buying a new iPad, the right time to buy is right now, before Amazon adjusts its listings. It’s last call for cheap iPads starting at just $299.

Our beloved iPad Air is the best tablet money can buy, and it’s an even better value on sale. Amazon has the base model marked down to just $519 during Prime Day, which is a new record-low price. You save $80 on its current MSRP of $599. For comparison’s sake, the Apple Store just bumped the same model to $749. (If it sells out on Amazon, look for it at Best Buy. The tech retailer was price-matching its Prime Day deal at the time of writing.)
This is an incredible tablet, as powerful as a laptop. So while you can do the tablet basics — streaming, internet browsing, reading, and gaming — it can handle more. For creatives, that means graphic design, illustration, and photo and video editing.
