In an age of decreasing retail stores and increasing online immersion, local bookstores are becoming more and more treasured among readers. At least one in Georgia is particularly popular.
Last week, USA Today released its list of the 10Best indie bookstores in the nation. A panel of bibliophiles nominated pics from across the U.S. then readers voted for their favorites.
Only one Georgia store made it onto the list: E. Shaver Booksellers in the No. 9 slot. The 10Best writers said “E. sells a vast array of new and vintage books, signed editions, and regional titles. They also host regular author events and themed book clubs weekly. Be sure to say hello to the shop’s resident cats, who reside among the shop’s cozy aisles.”
E Shaver’s home base is located in Savannah’s historic district in an 1842 building at 326 Bull St. They also have a Starland district location at 1921 Bull St.
The main location is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. The Starland location is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Here are the rest of this month’s E Shaver events, which will all take place at the Starland location:
