The City of Gering announces the upcoming August 2026 cycle of the Gering Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Funding Program. This funding cycle is designated for “major grant” requests—applications seeking over $10,000 in funding. The program supports City departments, facilities, and nonprofit entities that host events and activities aimed at increasing overnight stays and boosting tourism revenues in Gering.
Organizations interested in applying for funding are encouraged to submit their application by 12:00 Noon on July 1, 2026. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit entities or city departments/facilities, and projects must meet at least one of the Occupation Tax Funding Criteria, with emphasis placed on events that demonstrate a measurable impact on overnight tourism.
Applications will be reviewed by the Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Committee at their next regularly scheduled meeting. Applicants will be notified at least one week prior to the meeting regarding the date and time and will be asked to present their proposal.
Applications along with additional information on the Gering Hotel Occupancy Grant can be found at https://visitgering.com/apply-for-a-grant/, or they can be obtained by contacting the Gering Visitors Bureau. Completed applications may be submitted in person, by mail, or electronically:
