Amazon Hits Water Milestone in India – TradingView

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN, Financials) is trying to answer a question that keeps coming up around big tech: how much water does growth really cost?
The company said its India operations are now water positive, meaning Amazon returns more water to local communities than it uses across its offices, warehouses and data centers.
Amazon said it got there by cutting water use at its own sites and supporting projects such as watershed restoration and better irrigation.
The timing matters. India is already under pressure from water shortages, and tech companies are expanding data centers as AI demand rises. That makes every new project easier to question.
Amazon also said its India data centers do not use water for cooling, which may help ease some concerns.
For investors, this is not just a sustainability headline. As Amazon spends more in India, including on cloud and AI infrastructure, managing local environmental concerns could become part of keeping growth on track.
