Initiative rolled out at 62 centres aims to empower communities with practical AI training and nurture grassroots prompt engineers

KUALA LUMPUR — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today launched the AI@NADI programme at the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in Seri Menanti, marking the Negeri Sembilan-level rollout of an initiative designed to expand access to artificial intelligence (AI) education at community level.
The programme was implemented simultaneously across 62 NADI centres throughout the state, underscoring efforts to ensure wider and more inclusive access to emerging digital skills.
Organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)), AI@NADI falls under the “Lifelong Learning” pillar of the NADI Smart Services Programme.
It is designed to strengthen community digital capabilities through structured, practical training aligned with current technological needs.
“Participants are introduced to hands-on applications of AI across multiple areas, including education, employment, entrepreneurship, daily tasks and community development. The sessions also emphasise responsible use of technology, with a focus on safety, ethics and accountability,” the MCMC said in a statement.
The programme is offered free of charge and is open to all segments of society, including students, youth, entrepreneurs and local communities. It supports NADI’s broader role as an inclusive digital learning platform aimed at bridging the digital divide.
It also aligns with the Communications Minister’s aspiration to cultivate at least one prompt engineer at every NADI centre, intended to strengthen AI competency at grassroots level. These individuals are expected to serve as local reference points, helping communities better understand and apply AI tools in practical ways.
Beyond skills development, the initiative is expected to create new employment opportunities and generate local economic value by equipping participants with future-ready digital capabilities.
More broadly, AI@NADI reinforces NADI’s position as a community digital hub, not only by providing inclusive internet access, but also by driving digital upskilling, encouraging participation in the digital economy and supporting socio-economic advancement at community level. – June 13, 2026
