6.2-magnitude earthquake struck at 7:05 PM, with its impact extending across North India and parts of Central Asia.

A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck near Kalafgan, Afghanistan, on Saturday evening at 7:05 PM, sending tremors across several parts of North India, including Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi-NCR.

According to seismic reports, the earthquake’s epicentre was located about 81 kilometres from Kalafgan, close to the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, at a depth of 192 kilometres. Due to its considerable depth, the tremors were felt over a wide geographical area.

Apart from India, the earthquake’s impact was also felt in Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The sudden tremors prompted many residents to rush out of their homes and offices as a precaution. As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the affected regions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while disaster management agencies remain on alert for any aftershocks or emergency developments.
