MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) –
FRIDAY: Ending the work week with highs in the lower 90s and heat index values in the mid and upper 90s. Humidity sticks around, but a breeze from the southwest could give a slight relief at times. Isolated showers and storms remain possible, but mainly in the northern counties of Tennessee. The storms that do form have the potential for localized flooding as well as gusty winds. Lows overnight will be in the middle 70s.
SATURDAY: A warm start to the day with temperatures in the 70s and in the low to middle 90s by the afternoon. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, but the afternoon will be mostly dry. It will be muggy with feel like temperatures above 100 degrees. Take breaks indoors and drink plenty of water if you have any plans.
SUNDAY: Similar day to Saturday, but highs will be in the middle 90s across the area. Feel like temperatures will be between 105 and 110 degrees as a high pressure settles over the area. Lows will be in the upper 70s yet again.
EXTENDED FORECAST: With the high pressure settling over the area, highs will be in the middle and upper 90s. Heat index values will continue to be between 105 and 110 degrees, but could exceed that by the end of the week. Overnights will continue to be warm with lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor time, and check on your neighbors all week.
