An investigation is underway after state police said two people were killed in a crash along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County early Saturday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that a crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-76 near the Route 136 overpass in Hempfield Township.
The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m.
Authorities said a vehicle drove onto the right embankment and lost control. The vehicle then hit the overpass and overturned multiple times before coming to a stop.
Fire and rescue crews arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and found two people inside the vehicle. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
A Pennsylvania Turnpike spokesman said no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Officials said an investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the victims has not been released.
