The Boston Bruins announced today that the team has acquired forward JJ Peterka from the Utah Mammoth in exchange for Boston’s 2026 first-round (23rd overall) draft pick and Florida’s 2028 first-round draft pick.
If Florida’s 2028 first-round pick falls within the top 10 following the results of the draft lottery, then Boston can choose to instead transfer Boston’s own unprotected 2029 first-round pick.
Peterka, 24, appeared in all 82 games with Utah in 2025-26, recording 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points. The 6-foot, 189-pound forward posted 27 goals and 41 assists for a career-high 68 points with Buffalo in 2024-25. During the 2023-24 season, he tallied a career-high 28 goals and 22 assists for 50 points. Peterka has skated in 320 career NHL games with Utah and Buffalo, totaling 92 goals and 105 assists for 197 points. 
Peterka was named to Team Germany’s roster for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, recording one goal and three assists for four points in five games. The forward has represented Germany at three IIHF World Championships (2021, 2023, 2024) and two IIHF World Junior Championships (2020, 2021). He was named best forward and to the tournament’s All-Star Team at the 2023 World Championship as Germany won a silver medal.
The Munich, Germany native was originally selected by Buffalo in the second round (34th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
