Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta Meets Ladakh LG Vinai Saxena, Discusses Digital & Green Initiatives – Daily Pioneer

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta called on Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena during a study tour to the Union Territory. The speaker briefed the LG on the Delhi Assembly’s green and digital transformation, including a 500-kW solar power installation and the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application, while Saxena, in turn, described the infrastructure and administrative changes underway in Ladakh since it became a Union Territory. Gupta was accompanied by Delhi MLAs Surya Prakash Khatri, Sanjay Goyal, and Aahir Deepak Chaudhary. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Saxena briefed the Speaker on the development trajectory Ladakh has been following since its reorganisation as a Union Territory. He said the number of districts in Ladakh has been increased from two to seven, enabling better administrative outreach and more localised governance across a geographically vast and difficult terrain. He also spoke about significant infrastructure projects underway, particularly the construction of strategic tunnels and connectivity works expected to provide all-weather access to parts of Ladakh that have historically been cut off during winter months, and to boost economic activity and improve the quality of life for residents.
Gupta used the meeting to share the Delhi Assembly’s experience with two specific initiatives it has undertaken in recent years. The first is the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application, a digital platform that has substantially reduced paper consumption within the Assembly’s functioning, contributing to the conservation of a significant number of trees while improving legislative efficiency and record management.
The second is the Assembly’s solar energy programme. Gupta informed Saxena that a 500-kW solar power system has already been installed at the Assembly premises, resulting in meaningful savings in electricity consumption.
