Democratic nomination contests for New York’s seats in the closely divided U.S. House took center stage Tuesday in a state primary where relatively few of the state’s top officeholders appeared on the ballot.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who isn’t up for reelection, was trying to shape the city’s congressional delegation by endorsing three Socialists, two of whom are facing Democratic incumbents. All three of the candidates he backed were projected to win their primaries, sending a message to establishment members of the party.
