Dana White helps 12-year-old injured in school shooting
Dana White did his good deed for the day.
On Feb. 10, Canada suffered the deadliest mass shooting in the country since 2020 when a lone shooter killed killed six people at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia and injured 27 others before killing herself.
One of the 27 injured was Maya Gebala, a 12-year-old student who was shot in the head and neck. Gebala is in critical care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, and has already had several surgeries and complications from her injuries. A GoFundMe was set up by Gebala’s family to help take care of some of the expenses, and on Wednesday, Gebala’s family revealed (h/t TMZ Sports) that the UFC CEO had heard of the situation, and was stepping in to cover all the costs, including transporting Gebala to Los Angeles when she is able to move.
“After a week of being in the ICU we were contacted by the president of the UFC, Dana White, he’d offered Maya full paid medical in one of the world’s most top tier hospitals in LA California.
“For anyone who watches UFC, they put my babes name in the ring. Super cool.
“The children’s hospital has an extensive brain trauma clinic and more resources. However, Maya hadn’t been stable enough to travel. Until now.“
MMA Fighting has reached out to the UFC for comment on the situation.
