All India Congress Committee (AICC) President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) that the INDIA bloc leaders have concluded deliberations on the Delimitation Bill, and the group has “unitedly” decided to oppose the Bill.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) announced results for Class 10 board exams, officials said. “The results have been declared,” a senior board official said. The CBSE started with two editions of board exams for Class 10 from this year. It was mandatory for students to appear in the first edition, the results of which have been declared.
The death toll in a blast at the Vedanta power plant in Chhattisgarh’s Sakti district has gone up to 17 with four more workers succumbing to injuries, police said on Wednesday (April 15, 2026). According to officials, four workers died on the spot, while nine others succumbed to injuries soon after the incident. Four more workers have died in hospitals, raising the toll to 17, Sakti Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur said on Wednesday (April 15). He said that a total of 36 workers were affected in the blast, and 17 of them died.
The newly elected leader of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday (April 13, 2026) was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the State, marking the end of outgoing CM Nitish Kumar’s decades-long political era. Two senior leaders from the JD(U), Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Choudhary, also took oath as Ministers. Both are likely to be Deputy CMs in the new BJP-led NDA government.
The unemployment rate (UR) for individuals aged 15 and older rose slightly to 5.1% in March from 4.9% in February this year, mainly due to high joblessness in urban areas, according to government data released on Wednesday (April 15, 2026). The female unemployment rate in rural areas remains stable in March 2026. At the all-India level, the monthly estimates are based on information collected from a total of 3,75,262 persons surveyed. Urban Labour Force Participation Rate shows a steady trend.
Wholesale price inflation rose for the fifth straight month, at 3.88% in March, driven by a sharp spike in rates of fuel, power and manufactured items amid the West Asia crisis, government data showed on Wednesday (April 15, 2026). Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation was 2.13%in the previous month and 2.25% in March last year.
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) conducted raids in Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar and Tetr College of Business and Master's Union College of Business in Gurugram, ED sources said. The action is being undertaken under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), with 10 locations in Jalandhar and Gurugram being covered.

India will host Foreign Ministers-level meeting of the BRICS grouping in May, official sources have confirmed. The meeting will be the first occasion when officials of Iran and the United Arab Emirates will be “face to face” since the conflict began with the U.S.-Israel attacking Iran on February 28, 2026.
