A major fire and explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit at Mundathikode near Thrissur in Kerala left at least 13 people dead and several workers injured on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), according to preliminary information. The incident occurred at a unit engaged in preparing fireworks for the Thiruvambady faction of the Thrissur Pooram. The facility was reportedly producing materials for the sample fireworks scheduled on April 24.
