The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $212 million, with a $94.5 million cash option, ahead of the Saturday, June 6 drawing.
The jackpot hasn’t been hit in more than a month, rolling over since May 2, when tickets in Texas and Florida split a $20 million prize. Drawings are held three times a week, and the prize continues to grow until someone matches all six numbers.
Since launching in 1992, Powerball jackpots have been hit more than 400 times. Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin rank among the states with the most jackpot-winning tickets.
Here is what you need to know about Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.
Thomas Cook and Joseph Feeney of Wisconsin agreed years ago to split future lottery winnings. Cook followed through on that promise when he won a $22 million prize on June 10, 2020.
More: Which Powerball numbers should you pick?
Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased at authorized retailers, including convenience stores, gas stations and grocery stores. In some states, players can also buy tickets online.
To play, pick six numbers — five white balls from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball from 1 to 26. Players can also choose a “Quick Pick” option to have numbers selected at random.
For an extra $1, players can add the “Power Play” option, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x.
To win the jackpot, a ticket must match all five white balls in any order plus the Powerball.
