Local movie theater in Colorado Springs getting new 70mm IMAX projector for upcoming “The Odyssey” – KKTV

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A local movie theater is getting a major upgrade to its picture quality this summer in Colorado Springs.
Cinemark near South Carefree Circle and Powers Boulevard, will be getting a new 70mm projector for the upcoming film “The Odyssey.”
Cinemark shared photos of what these projectors look like, as seen below, from their screening of “Oppenheimer.”
11 News talked with moviegoers here in Colorado Springs who are excited for the new addition.
“Just the experience and the emotions you get out of watching a film in the highest quality you can possibly be in is just irreplaceable. It’s so incredible,” Alex Prast, a moviegoer, said.
“I just think going to the movie theaters is sometimes part of the fun of watching a movie, and especially seeing it on such a big IMAX screen. I think it will be wonderful,” Derek Latham, another moviegoer said.
Thursday was the first day people were able to purchase tickets for the upcoming 70mm feature.
