Abhijeet Dipke Jantar Mantar protest: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) launched its protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET 2026 paper leak and alleged CBSE OSM irregularities. Founder Abhijeet Dipke arrived from Boston to lead the demonstration as protesters raised anti-government slogans.
On a day when hundreds gathered at Jantar Mantar here responding to the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) call, the Opposition stood vertically split into two camps — a sceptical Congress on one side, while the rest of the parties cheered on from the sidelines.
Six people were detained by the Delhi Police on Saturday to prevent a possible confrontation between two groups during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, officials said.
Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, said he is returning home to meet his parents after more than a year. He stated that his parents had suffered over the past 15 days and were forced to leave their home due to threats. He added that he would be taking them back home.
Thanking supporters for turning up in large numbers at a protest, Dipke said the demonstration was “just a trailer” and expressed gratitude for the turnout. He indicated that further action could follow.

The protest, led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, drew hundreds of participants, mostly students and young professionals, who gathered at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests.
Officials stated that the six individuals were taken into preventive custody when they were found attempting to create a disturbance near the protest site. Fortunately, the situation remained under control, and no incidents were reported.
A heavy security presence is being maintained at Jantar Mantar and other key locations in the national capital. More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed across New Delhi district and other sensitive areas, while additional security arrangements have been made at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and border entry points.
Senior police officers are monitoring the situation on the ground, and barricades have been erected around the protest site to regulate the movement of participants and ensure separation between rival groups.
Hundreds of people, mostly young individuals, turned out for the demonstration, many of whom were wearing cockroach masks and holding flowers. School students were also seen attending the protest along with their parents.
The majority of the participants were a mix of school and college students, along with young professionals.
Scores of students gathered at the venue, chanting slogans and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Dipke, who arrived in Delhi early in the day, had urged supporters to maintain discipline and ensure that the protest remains peaceful.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has also expressed support for the protest, stated that he would undertake a six-week fast if Dipke is arrested.
In a post on X, Dipke expressed excitement about meeting supporters at Jantar Mantar and encouraged them to bring a book and the national flag. He also urged participants to offer flowers to police personnel as a “gesture of compassion and gratitude,” emphasising that the movement should be led with “love and peace.”

The planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar is expected to be the group’s first significant on-ground mobilisation after gaining substantial support on social media in recent weeks.

CJP Jantar Mantar Protest live: The Delhi Police has not received any request for permission from digital outfit Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) regarding its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, even as more than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in New Delhi, an official said on Friday.
“We will examine their request if and when they seek permission,” a senior police officer told PTI.
Police sources said they learnt about the proposed protest primarily through social media posts and messages circulating online, and added that they have yet to receive any formal communication from the Abhijeet Dipke-led outfit.
Police said they are closely monitoring the situation and making preliminary security arrangements in view of the proposed gathering.
Senior Delhi Police officers held a high-level review meeting earlier in the day to assess the situation and preparedness ahead of the planned protest. All district units have been placed on standby, and further decisions are likely after evaluating intelligence inputs and the ground situation, sources said.
Police officers described the situation as ‘very dynamic’, with assessments being conducted at multiple levels.
“The only information available to us at present is what has been circulating on social media. No permission request has been received so far,” a source said.
Delhi Police generally does not permit demonstrations without prior approval and the necessary permissions. Officials said it would be premature to comment on any specific action at this stage.
Decisions regarding security deployment and other preventive measures would depend on evolving ground conditions and intelligence inputs, but as of now, deployment of 1,000 police personnel has been planned, police sources added.
