The owner of Flourish Hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, Lovkesh Bajaj, has been sent to four days of police remand in connection with the devastating hotel fire that claimed 21 lives.

Bajaj was produced before a Delhi court after being taken into custody hours after the tragedy. During police questioning, he reportedly made a startling admission regarding his actions on the day of the incident.

According to investigators, Bajaj revealed that he drove past the burning hotel in his car while the fire was raging. However, instead of stopping to assist trapped guests or alert authorities, he left the area. He told police that he fled the scene out of fear.

The hotel owner also admitted that he neither helped rescue victims nor returned home after the incident. Instead, he allegedly spent several hours moving around different parts of the city.

The massive blaze erupted on Wednesday and quickly engulfed the five-storey building,
leading to the deaths of 21 people and leaving several others injured. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions about safety compliance and emergency response measures at the hotel.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess any lapses that may have contributed to the high death toll.
