Even with a career spanning more than four decades, every movie Madhuri Dixit releases is an event. That’s the mark of true superstardom. Her latest film — the Netflix Original Maa Behen — casts her opposite one of Bollywood’s current “it girls”: Triptii Dimri. The two play a mother and daughter with an unusual problem: what to do with the dead body in their kitchen which is now streaming on Netflix globally.
Maa Behen is the first of two Netflix Original projects from studio Abundantia Entertainment, releasing in 2026. The other is the upcoming drama series Family Business, starring Netflix India regular Vijay Varma and legend Anil Kapoor.
Abundantia Entertainment founder & CEO Vikram Malhotra says of this first collaboration with Netflix:
“Maa Behen is the kind of story that hooks you with its audacious premise and stays with you for its emotional truth. Beneath the chaos and the humour is a deeply human story about family, society, and the choices people make to survive in this judgmental world. What excited us at Abundantia was building a world that feels both wildly entertaining and instantly relatable. And of course, the opportunity to join hands with the amazing Suresh Triveni once again. I am very excited to work with Netflix to bring this unique and unpredictable crime-comedy to life in our first partnership.”
All of director Suresh Triveni’s films center around the complicated relationships between parents and children, though this new movie takes a more humorous approach than his dramas Subedaar and Jalsa. Maa Behen is co-written by Triveni and Pooja Tolani, who wrote two episodes of the Netflix Original series Sacred Games and the short film “The Mirror,” part of the Original anthology Lust Stories 2.
Here’s how Netflix describes the plot of this unconventional comedy:
When Rekha and her daughters, Jaya and Sushma, the centre of all (controversial!) attention in their conservative locality, find themselves in the middle of a situation with a dead body in their kitchen, the perpetually struggling, constantly squabbling ‘Maa-Behen’ trio must team up to cover up the ‘crime’.
Madhuri Dixit (The Fame Game) stars as Rekha, a gorgeous widow.
Triptii Dimri (Bulbbul) plays Jaya, Rekha’s responsible daughter.
Digital creator Dharna Durga makes her acting debut as Sushma, the “wild card” daughter.

In addition to the original Hindi audio, Maa Behen features dubbed dialogue in Arabic, English, French, Indonesian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish (Latin America & Spain), Tamil, Telugu, Thai, and Turkish. Subtitles are available in 35 languages.
