The Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor led Peddi is headed to take a poor start in India, despite promotional efforts from the star-cast to position it as a Pan India film. The Sukumar production has sold only 4,000 tickets in the top 3 national chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – at 10 PM as of Wednesday and closed its pre-sales around the 5,000 ticket mark.
The scenario is similar in the non-national chains and single screens too, and all the factors are indicating at a poor theatrical start in Hindi. The film is looking to collect in the range of Rs. 2 crore on Friday, and it will have to heavily rely on reports to change the tide in its favour.
The start will be among the lowest for a big-budget Telugu film releasing in Hindi; however, locally it is headed to take a strong start. In fact, in Telugu, Peddi could emerge the biggest opening day for leading hero Ram Charan outside of the SS Rajamouli film RRR, which co-starred NTR Jr. too.
Peddi will have to rely on strong reports to get to a reasonable number in Hindi, and the talk starting from tomorrow will give a clear idea.
